Are you pain-free, performing all the activities you would like to, and living your best life?

The team at Physically Active believe you should be, and we have been helping South-East Queenslanders improve their quality of life since 2012. Our Exercise Physiologists are accredited through Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) – the one and only governing body for exercise physiology, exercise science, and sports science in Australia. We are part of the allied health group alongside other professions such as osteopathy, physiotherapy, dietetics, podiatry, occupational therapy, and psychology.

Our Exercise Physiologists are university qualified practitioners who have studied human physiology and exercise science. We not only treat a range of conditions, illnesses, and injuries but also prevent them from occurring or reoccuring. What sets us apart from other “exercise trainers” is our evidence-based paradigm. Our knowledge is internationally recognised and our exercise prescription will protect, restore and maintain optimal physical function.

A unique and innovative exercise program will help you achieve your goals, perform at your genetic best, and live the best life you can.

Josh

Accredited Exercise Physiologist
Accredited Exercise Scientist

Josh completed his Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2012. His studies specialised in sustainable weight loss, pain management, metabolic conditions and cardiac rehabilitation. Josh strives to continually improve his knowledge and skills, with a particular focus on the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

More details...

He enjoys the science and physiological adaptations behind exercise, providing individuals with education on how particular exercises and physical activity can benefit them. You will see Josh around our Gympie and Sunshine Coast locations.

Josh developed a love for physical activity during his younger years playing rugby league and trying his hand at many other sports. His passion for rehabilitation was built through personal experience rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries, finding great interest in how the body adapts and recovers. The brightest moment in each of his days is being able to help people feel a difference in their well-being. He strives to help improve your function, reduce pain levels, and bring a smile and positivity to your day.

Josh also has a passion for strength and conditioning, injury prevention and rehabilitation, performance enhancement and functional movement exercise. He enjoys attempting to be the world’s most underwhelming strength athlete & body builder as well as amateur sports analyst, be careful mentioning these subjects unless you have a few spare hours to chat. Otherwise he likes to keep himself busy with hiking, spending time with family and friends, music and food.

“When it comes to health and well-being: regular exercise is about as close to a magic pill as you can get.”

“Look at the bright side of life and choose to be happy, as even the darkest of clouds have a silver lining”

She has a passion for helping people overcome difficulties and live life to the best of their abilities, while keeping a smile on their face. Sometimes it might be more of a grimace, but she gets the smile in the end.

She finds it rewarding to work with returned servicemen and women, giving back to people that have given so much for us. During her spare time Carissa enjoys getting out in her garden where her success can only be described as “average”. She also enjoys camping, especially at the beach surrounded by the sand and sea; and enjoys the challenge of her new hobby, crocheting.

“The positive effects of exercise on both the body and mind are amazing; even just getting out for a walk will make a world of difference.”

In another life, Brad believes he would be a stand up comedian and prides himself on everyone working hard, achieving their goals, but also having a laugh and wearing a smile while doing it.

In his personal life, Brad likes to attend live music and sport, test new training methods on himself and take the time to appreciate this beautiful part of the world we live in. Travel and history are two big passions he enjoys and likes to combine. If you mention travel, particularly to Europe, Brad won’t let you leave until you’ve shared every last story!
